Mother: Lucretia Dunkerson
Known as Edward Teague, his granddaughter, Minnie Belle Teague of Providence, KY said she was sure Edward was born in Hopkins county, KY. He married in Hopkins and later moved into Webster county KY. Edward was a very conservative person who disliked changes. When his wife, Nancy Florence passed away he had her remains taken to by cemetery by wagon. The children wanted them taken by hearse, but he would not give in. (This shows the stubbornness in Teagues). When Edward passed away he was taken to the cemetery by hearse, which was proper in that day.
Story by Agnes Teague Cunningham in her book "Genealogy on the Teagues" (USA-1971). Burial and other vital information also from that book. Photo of the horse drawn cemetery wagon from public website. Websites also verify the information that motorized hearses had started to become widely used in 1908 when Edward's wife passed away.
