Betty Allan-Gilles, 76, Lena, died Tues. Mar. 24, 1998, at St. Vincent Hospital, Green Bay. She was born to the late Winston and Grace (Carter) Shelton on April 19, 1921, at Elk City OK. Betty married Evans Allan on Aug. 7, 1946. Evans preceded her in death Apr. 22, 1992. She married Merne Gilles on Oct. 12, 1996. Betty was in the grocery store business from 1954 until 1975 and the restaurant business from 1976 until retirement in 1994. She was a member of the United Methodist Church, Lena, and belonged to the Methodist Womens Society.

Surviving are husband, Merne Gilles; two sons, Dennis (Judy) Allan, Green Bay; Don (Karen) Allan, Okatie SC; three stepsons, Steve (Penny) Gilles, Huron SD; Thomas Gilles, Lena; Bruce (Deb) Gilles, Appleton; four stepdaughters, Dr. Pamela (Robert) Norris, New Haven CT; Ann Gilles, Minneapolis MN; Dr. Lynn Gilles, Milwaukee; Dr. Jean Gilles, Medford WI; six grandchildren, Kristin (Tom) Winter, Catham NJ; Jessica (Chuck) Allan-Errig, Hoboken NJ; Charles (Stacy) Allan, Hoboken NJ; Trent (Renee) Allan, Kelly Lake; Jennifer (Shawn) Allan, Green Bay; Jolene (Erik) Allan, Green Bay; two step-grandchildren, Andrew and Patrick Gilles; two great-grandchildren, Andrew and Mark Winter; one brother, Arba Shelton, Elk City OK; and one sister, Dorotha Mahl, Elk City.

Friends may call at Rhodes-Charapata Funeral Home, Lena, Fri. Mar. 27, 1998, from 4 to 9 p.m. and Saturday at United Methodist Church, Oconto Falls, from 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral service. Prayer service Friday at 7 p.m. Funeral service Saturday at 11 a.m. at the church with Pastor Jodi Arpke-Lone officiating. Interment at Woodlawn Cemetery, Oconto Falls.
