Daughter of Mike and Anastasia Kardaras Petros, wife of John Melvin Kirby.

MULLINS - Olga Petros Kirby, 87, of Mullins passed away Friday, September 23, 2016 at McLeod Hospice House in Florence. She was born in Mullins, a daughter of the late Mike and Anastasia Petros.

Mrs. Kirby touched many lives through the years as she shared her love of cooking with others. She worked tirelessly as a cafeteria manger at Mullins High School, greeting the students with a smile and making sure that they were well-fed. The joy she found in cooking and doing for others was also seen in her personal life, as she would often share her delicious goodies with her many friends in the community. She supported our country’s veterans as a lifetime member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the VFW. Her greatest joy; however, was found in her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband of sixty-seven years, John M. Kirby, Sr., two sons, Dr. John M. Kirby, Jr. (Vickie) and Paul R. Kirby, all of Mullins; a daughter, Barbara Ann Hawkins of Hamer; two sisters, Tula Carroll of Myrtle Beach and Evelyn Petros of Mullins, 4 grandchildren; and 5 great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held at 3:00 p.m., Sunday, September 25, 2016 at Cedardale Cemetery in Mullins.
