Burial will follow at the Rose Hill Cemetery in Tyler under the direction of Stewart Family Funeral Home.
Mrs. Aiken passed away, Monday, December 4, 2006 at home under the care of Hospice of East Texas in Tyler.
She was born March 30, 1938 in Darmstadt, Germany to the late Jacob and Johanna (Elting) Boessler.
Doris married her loving husband William Aiken on November 25, 1959 in Darmstadt, Germany and was happily married for 48 years.
She was a Christian and devoted member at Grace Chapel in Tyler.
Doris was a loving and caring woman who loved to spend her time with her family, friends, and customers at Hair Safari. She owned and worked at this hair salon with her daughters as barber/stylists for many years until Doris's illness in 1989.
Mrs. Aiken was preceded in death by parents and survived by her loving family including her husband of 48 years, William Aiken of Flint; daughter, Denise Gentry and husband Robert of Tyler, daughter, Diane Gatewood and husband Hank of Tyler, daughter, Sharon Follis and husband Jeff of Denton; brother, Werner Boessler of Nauhgim, Germany; eleven grandchildren; Eric Wright, Elizibeth Gentry, Darby Dixon, Andrew Gatewood, Danielle Gatewood, Jakob Gatewood, Taylor Follis, Reid Follis, Cameron Follis, Savannah Follis; Tante Gretel Nickel of Darmstadt, Germany; and nephews, Steffen and Uwe Boessler.
Pallbearers will be Robert Gentry, Hank Gatewood, Jeff Follis, Eric Wright, Taylor Follis, and Reid Follis.
Honorary Pallbearer is Darby Dixon.
The family will receive friends from 11:00-1:00 PM Thursday, December 7, 2006 (prior to service), at Stewart Family Funeral Home, 7525 Old Jacksonville Hwy., Tyler, Texas 75703.
