KATTSKILL BAY (On Lake George, NY) — Malvern Edward Tippett Jr., 75, died unexpectedly Wednesday, Sept. 4, 2013.

Born Aug. 4, 1938, in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late Malvern and Erma (Jones) Tippett Sr.

Mal graduated in 1956 from Swarthmore High School and enlisted in the U.S. Naval Academy. After a four-year enlistment in the Navy, he attended Bluffton College in Bluffton, Ohio, and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration. He retired from 3M Co. and then worked in his own business until retirement in 1997.

He enjoyed golfing and watching sports, especially football and the New York Yankees. He loved to eat out with his family.

He is survived by his wife, Carolyn (Sierotnik) Tippett; two children, Stacey Cappon and her husband, Brian, of Syracuse, and Gillian Falace and her husband, Jeff, of Hartford; five stepchildren, Peter Ranieri (Michelle) of Syracuse, Stephen Ranieri of Syracuse, Christine McKeighan (Stacy) of Warrensburg, Karen Corbett (Billy) of Syracuse and Mark Ranieri of Springfield, Ill.; his sister, Connie Fowler and her husband, Frank; nine grandchildren, Garrett, Morgan, Kyle, Rachel, Dominic, Pete, Jacob, Alyssa and Stephanie; as well as many nieces and nephews and one great-nephew.

Services will be private and at the convenience of the family.
