He married Elizabeth "Betsy" McCurdy on 16 September 1781 in Lyme, New London County, Connecticut.
The newlyweds lived for a short time in Philadelphia before removing to Manhattan.
Father of seven children.
Manhattan merchant, with a ship chandlery store at 68 Water Street and properties on Maiden Lane and Liberty Street in 1807. Owner of an iron ore mine in Philipstown, Dutchess County (present-day Putnam County), New York.
He died on 20 January 1808 in Manhattan at the age of 63 years.
