Steve M. Abrashoff, 73, of 15735 Walnut Hill Drive, Mount Union, reposed peacefully at 2:03 a.m. Friday, January 2, 2015, at his home.

He was born January 2, 1942, having been delivered at the Abrashoff home in Mount Union by Dr. Charles S. Brooks, and was the son of the late Steve R. and Anna (Kosack) Abrashoff. He was married to the former Georgianna Baker September 1, 1967, and she survives at their home.

There is also a son, Steve William Abrashoff and his wife, Shelley, of Dillsburg; and two grandchildren, Alison Frances Abrashoff and Steve George Abrashoff.

He is survived by the following siblings, Connie Morrison of Mount Union, Joyce Ruby and husband, Mike, of Altoona, and Sam Abrashoff and wife, Bonnie, of Mount Union. His sister-in-law, Marcie Abrashoff, also survives.

He was preceded in death by a brother, James D. Abrashoff; a sister, Patricia Abrashoff; his father-in-law, William Baker; and mother-inlaw, Frances Baker.

Mr. Abrashoff was a 1959 graduate of Captain Jack High School, Mount Union. In his early years, he worked for the former Robin Footwear, Mount Union, until its closing, then managed the Jefferson Bar and Hotel, also known as "Grips," in Mount Union. He also managed the Dollar General Store, Mount Union, until his retirement.

Mr. Abrashoff was a lifetime and active member of the Sts. Peter and Paul Orthodox Church, Mount Union.

He was a charter member of the Mount Union chapter of NAACP.

Mr. Abrashoff enjoyed fishing, playing poker and was an avid football fan. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and will be remembered as a kind and gentle man, who was deeply devoted to his church and his faith.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 6, at Sts. Peter and Paul Orthodox Church, Mount Union, with the Rev. Father Christos Patitsas officiating. Interment will follow in the Orthodox Section of the Mount Union Cemetery, followed by a mercy meal at the church.

Friends may call from 6-9 p.m. tonight, Monday, Jan. 5, at the church.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Robert D. Heath Funeral Home, Mount Union.
