Martha was the daughter of John A. Hornsby and Narcissa Cole Hornsby. She was married to Ruffert Cole Dubose. She had three children, Tom, Drucilla and Lucinda Viola. She was widowed at a young age. Stories handed down to me were mostly about the hardship of life after the war. Her family had been well to do and then her father was captured by the Yankees and never returned. They heard he had died near Andersonville GA, but research has established that he was taken prisoner and died at Camp Cook in Chicago.

Martha played the pump organ and it was in my great-grandmother's house when I was a child.
