Obituary for Nettie Vails
My Nettie was born on August 16, 1935 in Sayre, Oklahoma, to Chester and Mary Mae Burch; Yakima became her home at age 2. There, she grew into amazing young woman.

At a Halloween party in 1951, upon first seeing me, she said: "My man, my man, my man." No truer words were ever spoken. In September 1952, while working at the carnival midway, Nettie came to visit me and captured my heart. It was then that I told her, "If you're lucky, I'll marry you in June." Little did I know that I would be the lucky one when we sealed our love in marriage on May 8, 1953, in a double ceremony with our best friends, Jim and Francis Whitehead.

Nettie moved from A. C. Davis High in Yakima to Moxee High where she graduated in June 1953. Nettie gave me three beautiful girls: Mary, Shirley and Tammy, and even allowed me to call her "my pickle-barrel girl" during her pregnancies. She loved the life of a military wife, moving whenever and wherever needed.

My beloved soul mate, lover, best friend and confidant, was the most beautiful woman I have ever seen. She was a phenomenal wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, and aunt. Nettie was the heartbeat of our family.

She is survived by her loving husband, Ken, as well as Mary Brian, Jennifer Kirby, Katie and Brian J., Tammy, Shirley Jim, Candyce, James, Allen Patsy, Sam Amy, Ethel David, Derek Lauren, Heather, Jordan.

For the family: George, a bag of ice, man-eating couch, freezer jam, refrigerator magnets, robbed the cradle, mushroom stools, What Sarah Said, donkey in red tennis shoes, yellow booster seat, Dairy Queen treats Dilly Bars!, wooden spoon, Fence, sunshine-in-face, Allen's motorcycle rides, Snoopy, it's snowing, wake up calls, the Thunderbirds, coke & peanuts, Sam and the mitten, hand & foot, chats at the dining room table with babies in the middle, "I don't like your rules," and "I don't care." Christmas Eve readings William, Lamborghini, MaryShirleyTammyEthelMary. . ., Days of Our Lives and Friends tapes, "Get out of my kitchen. . . now." The Big Green Bus, horse races, "Did you know that ___is out on video?" pirouette cookies, high heels & press on nails, and "Jesus has no feet". To her brothers and sisters in Christ, and friends all, we know she loved you, too.
