Richard A. Wilke, age 90, a resident of Riverwood Place, Manitowoc, died Friday morning, October 28, 2016 at his residence, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born on February 19, 1926 in Manitowoc, son of the late Arthur P. & Rose (Schetter) Wilke. Richard was a graduate of Manitowoc Lincoln High School, Class of 1944. He was a Veteran of the United States Navy serving during World War II from 1944 - 1946. On September 17, 1949 he married the former Mary Jane Holzschuh at St. Boniface Catholic Church, Manitowoc. She preceded him in death on December 22, 2009. Richard was a Captain with the City of Manitowoc Fire Department for 33 years, retiring in 1983. He was a member of the Elks Club and a former member of Eagles Aerie #706.

Survivors include four sons and three daughters-in-law: Richard & Sarah Wilke, Amherst Junction, WI., David & Patti Wilke, Manitowoc, Daniel Wilke, Rotunda West, Florida, Charles Wilke & his partner Joel Cali, Menomonie, WI., Theresa Wilke, Apex, N.C.; one daughter and son-in-law: Patty & Rick Kubsch, Apex, N.C.; eight grandchildren: Laura (Jason) Kakatsch, Brian (Jenny) Wilke, Kevin (Sara) Wilke, Brad & Peter Wilke, Patrick, David & Katie Kubsch; two step grandchildren: Naomi & Nathan Stowell; nine great grandchildren: Ella, Nadia, Anna, Johanna, Lyla, Charlotte, Connor, Kory & Carter; one sister: Carol Reichard, Manitowoc; and one brother-in-law: Gerald Hansen, Manitowoc. Nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends also survive. He was also preceded in death by one son: Robert Wilke; one sister: Delores Hansen and two brothers-in-law and one sister-in-law: Norman Reichard and Jim & Elizabeth Clifton.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, October 31, 2016 at St. Francis of Assisi on Waldo (1121 North 14th Street) Manitowoc. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be the Rev. Richard Klingensen with burial at Calvary Cemetery, Manitowoc.
