Laskowski to Enter SD Sports Hall of Fame
March 5, 2015
Six-time NSSA South Dakota Sportscaster of the Year Bob Laskowski will enter the South Dakota Sports Hall of Fame on April 11. Laskowski’s award-winning TV and radio sportscasting career spanned 45 years, with 36 of those spent in Rapid City. There he became known as “West River Bob” for his support of all western South Dakota teams. But he considers himself a fan of anything or anyone South Dakota.

Laskowski, who retired in 2008, broadcast more than 3,000 athletic events during his career. The 1961 Turtle Lake (Wis.) grad began his broadcasting career in 1962 at KRSD Radio and TV in Rapid City. He then moved on to KOTA-TV and Radio in Rapid City from 1971 to ’84. There he broadcasted games for South Dakota School of Mines, Rapid City Stevens and Central and Post 22 baseball, and did two TV sportscasts a day.

From there, it was on to KEVN-TV and KTOQ Radio from 1984-98, then back to KOTA from 1998 to 2006 before finishing his career at KWSN in Sioux Falls. And it is in Sioux Falls where he will be inducted into the South Dakota Sports Hall of Fame next month.
