Sylvia Meyer, 82, longtime town of Edson and Boyd resident, passed away on Friday, Dec. 30, 2005 at Oakwood Villa Nursing Home in Altoona.

Sylvia was born March 10, 1923 in Stanley, the daughter of Carl & Olive (Baker) Edwardson. She grew up in the Stanley area and attended area schools, graduating from Stanley High School. She was then united in marriage to Baylon Meyer on April 24, 1948 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Stanley.

They lived and farmed in the town of Edson for many years, then later moved to the village of Boyd. After the death of her husband, he moved to Chippewa Falls where she resided for 13 years before recently moving to the Oakwood Villa Nursing Home in Altoona. She was a long-time member of Holy Family Catholic Church, formerly known as St. Mary’s Church, and was a member of its various circles. Sylvia enjoyed to read and play cards and especially loved her children and grandchildren.

She is survived by daughter Laana (Dave) Gartmann of Chippewa Falls; son Larry (Sally) Meyer of Holcombe; grandchildren Alyssa Gartmann, Nicholas, Lucas, Lisa and Sam Meyer; brother and sister-in-laws Jack and Marcy Zwiefelhofer of Boyd, Ted & Rosella Meyer of Thorp, and Mae Meyer of Chippewa Falls. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Baylon in 1990, daughter Debra Kay in infancy, and brother LeRoy Edwardson.

A Christian Burial Mass will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2006, at 11 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church, Stanley, with Fr. Robert Nelson officiating. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery. Friends and family may call on Monday evening from 5-7 p.m. at the Plombon Funeral Chapel, Stanley with a Rosary being recited 7 p.m. Plombon Funeral Service Is assisting the family with arrangements.
