N.H. Funeral Tomorrow for Retired Vt. Official
Montpelier, Vt. -- Services for Harold L. Bailey, 78, retired Vermont deputy commissioner of agriculture, will be held Wednesday at 1:30 pm in the First Unitarian Church, Hampton Falls, N.H.
A resident of Montpelier, he died Sunday in an Exeter, N.H., hospital.
Born in Newbury, Mass., he was a graduate of Governor Dummer Academy and Tufts College, class of 1908. From 1908 to 1913 he worked in Washington, D.C., as a congressional secretary.
He joined the Vermont Agriculture Department as an entomologist and was associated with the gypsy moth control program. He was named deputy commissioner in 1947 and held the post until his retirement 12 years ago.
