Louise Manning Chandler, who loved to make new friends and visit with old ones, died Thursday Oct. 27, 2016. She was 93. Louise was born in Groesbeck on Dec. 15, 1922, and her family moved to Dallas when she was a girl. She graduated from Dallas Technical High School and soon thereafter married Alfonso P. "Woody" Chandler on June 18, 1940. The couple moved to East Dallas, where Louise spent much of the rest of her life. Louise worked various administrative jobs downtown and as a PBX operator. She was a long-time volunteer with The Muscular Dystrophy Association . She went to church regularly, most recently at Second Baptist Church of Dallas. Louise loved to listen and dance to bluegrass music. She took the game of 42 seriously. She felt strongly that Thanksgiving dinner should be served with cornbread dressing. She was meticulous about her appearance. And she always had candy and snacks on hand for her great-grandchildren, who loved to take turns sitting on her lap for rides in her motorized wheel chair. Louise is survived by her daughter, Patricia Louise Chandler Souder, and her husband Ronald Souder; sister Dorothy Palmer; granddaughter Elizabeth Louise Souder-Philyaw and husband Jason Philyaw, grandson Ray Souder and wife Rachel Erb; and great-grandchildren Benjamin Philyaw, Ruby Louise Philyaw, Samuel Philyaw and Ella Souder. "Pete" Manning; and her great-grandson John Lee Philyaw. Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Tuesday at Grove Hill Funeral Home.
