Mary Jane Galer's list of persons buried in the Old Cemetery section of Linwood shows: John Rogers DAWSON, married male, born 1810 in Greensboro, Georgia, died 1852, aged 42 years in Columbus, Georgia, of typhus - remarks: [information copied from grave], resided at 1420 Wynnton Road [this would be a modern address for the location].
The listing from a 1943 survey of Linwood Cemetery by the LDS Southern States Mission shows: DAVIDSON [sic], John R., b. 20 Dec. 1810 Greensboro, Ga. d. 29 Oct. 1852. [This list has been alphabetized and so does not indicate the location of this grave within the cemetery or its proximity to others graves.]
This grave clearly was marked with an inscription at one time, as it was the source for the Sexton's record and the LDS listing. As this grave does not appear to be included in Dolores Autry's "Historic Linwood Cemetery" book, the inscription may no longer be legible, the grave may no longer be marked - or it may simply have been overlooked.
