Perry P. Bauer, 94, of Richmond, IN died Thursday, December 28, 2006 at the Dayton VA Medical Center. He was born in Elizaville, KY on September, 4, 1912 to George and Mary Bauer.
He had attended school in Kentucky and had been employed at the Wayne Corporation in Richmond. A Veteran of WWII in the United States Army, Company D 361st Infantry, he was an Ammunition Bearer. He was awarded a Combat Infantryman Badge; Rifle Marksman, also decorated with EME Theater Ribbon w/3 Bronze Stars per WD GO #33/45; American Theater Ribbon and WWII Victory Medal. In his leisure time he loved working on bicycles, playing cards and collecting aluminum cans to recycle.
Survivors include three sons: Charles P. Bauer of Connersville, Kenneth A. and his Fiancé, Carol of Brownsville, Michael E. and Robin Bauer of Brownsville, his daughter and son-in-law: Shirley M.and Edward Strait of Conroe, TX, his former wife: Zora of Liberty, eight grandchildren, eleven great grand children, several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers: Edward and William, three sisters: Verna Smitson, Marie Persinger and Rev. Mary Agnes Harget, a daughter-in-law: Sharon, who died recently and one grandson: Charles P. Bauer Jr.
Funeral services will be conducted at Showalter Blackwell Long Funeral Home, Baker Chapel, College Corner, OH at 12:00 AM on Tuesday, January 2, 2007. Interment will follow at the College Corner Cemetery. Friends may visit at the funeral home on Tuesday from 10:00 AM until the time of service. Memorial contributions may be made at the funeral home for Disabled Veterans.
