MRS. SHOOK FOUND DEAD
Sudden Summons Comes to Elwood Resident Not Considered Seriously Ill.
Mrs. Mary Margaret Shook, 62, wife of William Shook, was found dead in her bed at her home at 2000 North D street this morning. She had been ill for some time with flu and complications but did not complain of feeling worse last evening and her death came as a shock to the family and many friends in the community.
Mrs. Shook was born in Lawrence county, Ill., and came with her parents to Johnson county and then to Tipton county when she was a child. She was married to William Shook and to their union were born nine children, all of whom survive.
They are Charles, Frank, Roy, Mrs. Zora Young and Mrs. Sylvia McElfresh of Elwood; Mrs. Lulu Matthews, of Joliet, Ill.; Mrs. Alice Manus, of Tiltonville, Ohio; Mrs. Irene Bockover, of Baltimore, Md., and Mrs. Nellie Legg, residing southeast of the city. There are fourteen grandchildren.
William, James and Isaac McCarty are brothers surviving and Mrs. Nancy Meister of Tipton county, Mrs. Alice Rude, of Marion, and Mrs. Nora Bennett, sisters.
Mrs. Shook was a good woman with a wide circle of friends who will regret to learn of her death and extend sympathy to the bereaved relatives.
No funeral arrangements were announced this afternoon, word being awaited from children living at a distance.
