Ashley R. Cherry, 74, of Ottawa passed away Monday October 31, 2016 at his home.
Funeral Service for Ashley will be at 2:00 pm Saturday November 5, 2016 at Zion Lutheran Church, 622 W. Jefferson St in Ottawa, with Rev. David E. Daniel officiating with military honors. Visitation will be from noon until the time of the service at the church. Burial will take place at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery. Arrangements were entrusted to the Ottawa Funeral Home and Crematory.
Ashley was born November 3, 1941, in Aurora, Illinois, to Merrill and Mary (Olah) Cherry. He married Maureen Raspiller on September 24, 1994. He served in the U.S. Army from 1963 to 1969 also serving in Vietnam. He worked for Hawk Earth Moving and Allen Motor Sales as a mechanic. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and American Legion.
He is survived by his wife, Maureen; five sons; Eric Cherry, Grant (Jo Ann) Cherry, David Raspiller Jr., Rick (Darla) Raspiller, and Christopher (April) Franks; one step-daughter, Judy; seven grandchildren; one sister, Katherine (Walter) Anderson; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.
Pallbearers Austin, Chris, and Anthony Franks, Tim and Jeremy Shaw, and Grant Cherry.
Memorials may be directed to Zion Lutheran Church.
