Rachel Betancourt Carabajal passed away unexpectedly on Monday October 31, 2016 at the age of 72. She was a wonderful wife, loving mother, and kind friend to everyone she met. She was born on February 15, 1944 to Jose Betancourt and Laura Velasquez in El Paso, Texas. As a longtime resident of Las Cruces she worked as an inspector for the Honeywell Industries, until moving to Dona Ana in 1995.
She is preceded in death by her caring husband Monico P. Carabajal and two adoring sons, Monico and Paul Carabajal and her parents. She is survived by son and daughter-in-law Ralph & Angie Carabajal, and one daughter and son-in-law Belinda & Richard Lucero, and her sister Lisa Betancourt and her aunt Tilla, eleven grand-children and fourteen great grandchildren. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends and members of her congregation.

A visitation will be held Monday November 7, 2016 at La Paz-Graham's Funeral Home from 9 to 10 a.m., followed by a memorial service at 10 a.m. with Larry Hinojosa officiating. A graveside service will be held that same afternoon at 2 p.m., at Ft. Bliss National Cemetery where she will be laid to rest" Together Forever" with her loving husband.
Serving as pall bearers will include Ralph Carabajal, Richard Lucero, Richard Lucero Jr., Paul Lucero, Anthony Lara, and Daniel Gonzalez.
