Bertha Christensen, age 95, of Sioux Falls, passed away on Tuesday, December 26, 2006 at Sioux Valley Hospice Cottage.
A memorial services will be held Saturday, December 30th at Our Savior's Lutheran Church. Private family interment to be held at Woodlawn Cemetery.
Bertha was born on September 27, 1911 on a farm east of Beresford, SD to Caroline and Jacob Eikemo. Bertha moved to town (Beresford) with her family in 1921 after her Dad died. She graduated in 1930 from Beresford High School. She married Clarence Christensen in 1932 in Sioux Falls. They lived in Beresford until 1939 when they moved to Sioux Falls. They lived in San Diego, CA from 1941 to 1945 while Clarence was in the Navy and then returned to Sioux Falls.
Bertha was a homemaker. She cherished the time with her family and friends. She was an active volunteer in PTA, Girl Scouts, Our Savior's Lutheran Church and the Mail Carrier's Auxiliary.
Preceding Bertha in death is her husband, Clarence after 66 years of marriage and her 3 sisters.
Grateful for sharing her life is her daughter, Carol (Gerry) Svoboda; grandson, Nathan (Amy) Svoboda; granddaughter, Renae (Jeff) Wagner; great-granddaughter, Amanda Svoboda; and nieces and nephews.
