RACINE - Mr. Belmont Hall 'John' Johnson, 83, our loving husband, dad, and grandpa, passed away peacefully at his residence and entered his eternal home on Sunday, May 8, 2005, surrounded by the love of his family. He was born in Duncan Bridge, Mo. on January 6, 1922, to the late Derby and Beulah (nee: Hall) Johnson. On June 14, 1952, he was united in marriage to Ruth Jens in Milwaukee and lived in Milwaukee until 1970, when they moved to Racine. Belmont served in the United States Navy during World War II on a tanker in the Pacific Theatre. He worked for the J.I. Case Company for 30+ years, retiring in 1984. Belmont was a member of Atonement Lutheran Church, where he was an Usher and belonged to the Men's Bible Group. He was a member of V.F.W. 1391, J.I. Case 20-Year Club, and the 180 Retirees Club. Belmont was also a member of the Golden K, where he helped with the food give-away at Memorial Hall and helped display the Christmas lights at the zoo. Belmont is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Ruth; four daughters, Patti, Kathi, Kris, and Sue; loving grandchildren; and his beloved dog, Cody. Belmont is further survived by a sister, Addie Jane; and sister-in-law, Carol Jens. He is further survived by other relatives and many friends. Belmont was preceded in death by his grandson, Jimmy Chiapete; and brothers, George and Don Johnson. Funeral services will be held at Atonement Lutheran Church, 2915 Wright Avenue, on Wednesday, May 11, 2005, at 10 a.m. conducted by the Rev. Dr. Warren Williams. Burial will take place in Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Union Grove. There will be a visitation at the Hanson Funeral Home this Tuesday evening from 5 until 7 p.m. There will also be a visitation at the church on Wednesday morning from 9 a.m. until time of services at 10 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Atonement Lutheran Church Parish Nurse Fund, Hospice Alliance Incorporated of Pleasant Prairie, Atonement Lutheran Church Restoration Fund, Alzheimer's Association, or the Leukemia Foundation. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Dr. Matthew Connolly and his staff and to the staff of Hospice Alliance, especially to Nurse Bill for his loving assistance. There are no words to express our gratitude for the love and compassion shown by Joannie Williams, Parish Nurse, whom we now consider to be a member of our family.
