Odis Charles Rutledge, Sr. 68, a lifelong resident of the Beaumont, Vidor areas, and of Orange passed away on Monday November 7, 2016 in Beaumont. Mr. Rutledge was born on September 3, 1948 in Beaumont, Texas to his parents Samuel C. and Modelle Perkins Rutledge who preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by one brother; Sam Rutledge, one sister; Joan Gilbreath and her husband Mike, brother-in-law; Ben Burkett, and grandson; Jaden Cross. Odis was a Supervisor and faithful employee for Exxon Mobil Refinery. He was a Baptist by faith. Mr. Rutledge enjoyed playing golf and also was very actively involved in his grandchildren's adventures so much to the fact that he was always the first one there and the last one to leave, even if it rained, and he was considered their self- proclaimed number one fan. Surviving Odis are his loving wife; Carolyn Rutledge of Orange, son Odis Rutledge, II and wife Debbie of Vidor, three daughters; Stacey Terrell and husband Darren of Bridge City, Tracey Rutledge Burris of Little Cypress, Carey Brammer and husband Ben of Beaumont, step-son; Marc Cross of Mauriceville, brother; Albert Rutledge and wife Barbara of Vidor, three sisters; Joyce Rutledge of Vidor, Janice Richard and husband Larry of Vidor, Jeanine Burkett of Vidor, seven grandchildren, and one great grandson. Also surviving Odis are his faithful companions; his dogs, Charley, Penny, and cats; Scooter and Sam. Visitation will be held on Wednesday November 9, 2016 at Forest Lawn Funeral Home from 6:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. in Beaumont. A Celebration of Mr. Rutledge's life service will be held on Thursday November 10, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at the Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Beaumont. Memorial contributions may be made to the Sweet Pups Sanctuary P.O. Box 446 in Vidor, Texas, 77662 in honor of Odis Charles Rutledge, Sr. The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks and gratitude to Dr. Keller, Nell, Tammy, Dalton, Jimmy, and the rest of the A-team at Dubuis Hospital.
