Grace Emma Peppard, age 85, a Manitowoc resident, died Tuesday morning, October 18, 2016 at Shady Lane Nursing Care Center, Manitowoc.

She was born on October 12, 1931 in Valders, daughter of the late Elmer & Emma (Freimuth) Swensen.

Grace was a graduate of Valders High School, University of Wisconsin - Madison and received her Masters Degree at Brigham Young University. In 1979 she married Robert J. Peppard and he preceded her in death in 2011. Grace was a teacher/researcher for many years. She was involved with Woodland Dunes, Wisconsin Maritime Museum, Manitowoc Historical Society and the Manitowoc Public Library. Grace was a gardener, her speciality was flowers. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Manitowoc.

Survivors include a brother-in-law: Charles (Julia) Peppard and a sister-in-law: Mary Ann Peppard and her husband Vern Wickman. Many friends also survive. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother: Donald Swensen.

Cremation has occurred at All-Care Cremation Center, Manitowoc. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, October 20, 2016 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Manitowoc. Officiating at the Memorial Service will be the Rev. Jim Wilson.
