Loretta Joyce Morris Winters, a resident of Denton, TX, entered the gates of Heaven at the age of 88, on Tuesday evening the 8th of November, as her husband sat with her. Born to George and Edell Morris, she was the fourth of eight children. She often told stories of her wonderful childhood in Sanger, TX with her brothers and sisters. Joyce married her husband, George, on December 8, 1956. Together, they ran a successful sign business in Houston, TX where they lived for thirty-six years and raised their two children, Lorrie and David. She was an active member of First Baptist Church in Houston and later at First Baptist Church in Denton. She was a true patron of the arts, as she enjoyed attending the opera and symphony. As a beautiful artist herself, she also volunteered for years at the Houston Museum of Fine Art. Her love for travel allowed her to explore museums and cathedrals across Europe. Joyce is lovingly remembered by her husband of almost 60 years, George Winters; son David Winters and his wife Lori; siblings Reba Adcock, Pauline McCurley, Percilla Smith, Dorothy Lee Marshall, and George Morris, Jr; and countless nieces and nephews whom she adored. She was greeted in Heaven by her daughter Lorrie Winters; parents George and Edell Morris; and brothers, Robert Morris and Don Morris. Family and friends will celebrate her full life on Saturday, November 12 at 2:00 pm at the First Baptist Church in Denton, TX. The interment will follow at the Bolivar Cemetery in Sanger, TX. The visitation will be held Friday, November 11 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at the DeBerry Funeral Home in Denton, TX. The family would like to express gratitude to the countless friends and family who showed love to Joyce in her final days.
