Ron Barnhart, 78, of New Carlisle, IN passed away at 8:01 p.m. on Wednesday, December 27, 2006 at LaPorte Hospital.
A funeral will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 30, at St. John's Lutheran Church with Rev. Ronald Brauer officiating. Visitation will be held on Friday from 4:00-8:00 p.m. at Cutler Funeral Home and on Saturday at the church from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be in Patton Cemetery where full military rites will be conducted.
Ron was born January 6, 1928, in LaPorte to the late John Holt & Evelyn (Krueger) Barnhart. On June 13, 1948, in LaPorte, he married Marjory Euler who survives.
Also surviving are daughters Melanie (Mike) Dicken of Christianburg, VA and Marilee (Randy) Parmley of LaPorte; sons John H. Barnhart of Savannah, GA, Ronald W. Barnhart of New Carlisle, James W. (Alicia) Barnhart of LaPorte and David R. (Paula) Barnhart of New Carlisle; brother Roger (Patricia) Barnhart of Valparaiso, IN; 13 grandchildren; and 6 great-grandchildren.
Ron was a retired life and health insurance agent. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars and SAR. He served as a US Army Air Force staff sergeant during WW II and Korea. He also served 8 years on the New Prairie School Board.
