MARION - Mrs. Miriam Brown Atkinson, 75, wife of Anthony William Atkinson, died Sunday, January 25, 2015 at Carolinas Hospital System of Florence after an illness.

Mrs. Atkinson was born February 3, 1939 in Marion County, a daughter of the late Pharoh Chalmers Brown and the late Mattie Belle Daniel Brown. She was a Real Estate agent and a member of the Real Estate Association. Mrs. Atkinson was also a member of Marion Baptist Church.

Surviving Mrs. Atkinson in addition to her husband of the home are two daughters, Vicki (Harold) Martin of Effingham and Toni Lynn (Keith) McGiboney of Marion; four sisters, Frances Drew of Rains, Shirley Avant of Conway, Agnes Haseldon of Latta and Beth Hill of Winston-Salem, N.C.; 4 grandchildren; and 4 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday afternoon, January 28, at 3:00 p.m. in the Sanctuary of Marion Baptist Church, with Rev. Stan Gibson officiating. The services will be directed by Smith-Collins Funeral Home of Marion.
