U.S. Congressman. He graduated from Dartmouth College New Hampshire, in 1806, studied law, was admitted to the bar and commenced to practice law in Cooperstown, New York. Entering politics, he was elected as a Republican to the Sixteenth Congress, serving (1819-21).
Not a candidate for re-nomination, he passed away suddenly 18 days after leaving office.
