Harry Louis Goff, Jr was the youngest child of Harry L Goff, Sr & Mary Jones Goff. He was the second son of his widowed mother to die in the line of duty in the Army Air Corps. He had been issued a new P-47 Thunderbolt Fighter Plane and was getting familiar with the plane before he was to get deployed to the Pacific. While training in the plane, he crashed into an irrigation ditch obscured by high crops.
Harry enjoyed sailing his boat at the family vacation cottage at Hance's Point, MD and hanging out with family & friends.
Harry was known for a sweet disposition and his many loves. When some adult female cousins (his mother's peers, I believe, based on the reference) were quibbling about whether the one could wear a certain type of pin the flyers had, or if they were only for the mothers, harry told them "they're also for sweethearts, Cousin Reba. So you can wear two; one for me and one for Roland."
