Dorothy Hutchinson Cothren, age 82, of Alma died Thursday May 3rd, 2012 at Twin Oaks Convalescent Center after a short illness. She was a native of Bacon County, daughter of the late Lemuel Willis Hutchinson, Sr. and Christianna Pickren Hutchinson and was also preceded in death by her husband, Shannon Cothren, a step-son, Rev. Merrell (Buddy) Cothren, three bothers, Edsel, Oliver and Fred Hutchinson, two sisters, Myrtle Trowell and Minnie Lee Leggett. Dorothy retired from Oxford Textile of Alma after 34 years of employment and was a charter member of the Southside Church of God.

Survivors include a step-daughter, Linda Rewis and husband Olin of Alma, a brother, L. W. Hutchinson, Jr. of Alma, four grandchildren, Rev. Jimmy Cothren and wife Dianne, Lori Screws and husband Reggie, Dawn Thomas and husband Calvin all of Alma and Stacy Rewis and wife Kelly of Rainbow City. AL. Also twelve great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren survive.

Funeral services will be held Sunday afternoon at 3:00 o'clock at Southside Church of God with Rev. Mark Carver and Rev. Jimmy Cothren officiating. A eulogy will be delivered by grand-daughter Lori. The body will be carried to the church at 2:00 P M to lie in state. The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home Saturday evening between 6 and 9 P M. Interment will follow in Campground Methodist Church Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be, Calvin Thomas, Reggie Screws, Stacy Rewis, J. J. Cothren, Brian Daniels and Daniel Rewis. Honorary will be, her Senior Adult Sunday School Class, Classmates of 1948, Staff and Employee's of Twin Oaks, Danny and Vickie Rewis, A C and Dewayne Wade, Roy and Cookie Boatright, Mike and Genia Rewis and L H and Judy James.
