MACK SYLVESTER ELWOOD (Mack II), son of Mack Elwood I and Ida May Dowell. Mack married Victoria Elizabeth "Vic" Hanson on August 16, 1921 in Pike County. They had two children Mack Elwood III and Wanda Victoria Elwood Murphy-Eaton-Purviance.

RITES THURSDAY FOR MACK ELWOOD AT CONCORD

Funeral services were conducted Thursday afternoon, April 30th, by Rev. W.G. Mitchell, at the Concord Presbyterian Church, for Mack S. Elwood, Jr. of the Farmer neighborhood, who died suddenly Tuesday, April 28th. Interment was in the nearby churchyard. His remains were in state at the Mudd Funeral Home.

Mr. Elwood was born October 1900, at Frankford, a son of Mack Sr. and Ida May Dowell Elwood, and had attained the age of 52 years, six months and 10 days. He came to the Farmer neighborhood as a child and attended the Murry rural school and grew to young manhood in that vicinity.

On August 16, 1921, he was united in marriage to Miss Victoria Elizabeth Hanson, who survives to mourn his untimely passing. To that union a daughter, Mrs. Wanda Eaton, and a son, Mack, III, both of St. Louis, were born, and who also survive. He is also survived by four grandchildren, of St. Louis; his father of Hannibal, a son-in-law, and a daughter-in-law, other relatives and a host of friends. His mother having predeceased him.

Mack Elwood was devoted to his home, his family, loved ones and friends, being especially fond of his four grandchildren. He was a faithful and devoted husband, kind and understanding father, good neighbor and loyal friend. He was a good community citizen, taking part in affairs of his neighborhood and was a believer in the Pike County good roads system.

At the services Robert Henry sang "God Knows and Cares" and "Beyond the Sunset" with Mrs. Henry as accompanist.

The casket bearers were Paul Hanson, Donald Hanson, Glenn Hanson, Lloyd Hanson, Byron Williamson and Chalmer Okes.

After Mr. and Mrs. Elwood were married they resided on a farm in the Farmer neighborhood, later moving to California where they remained for 10 years, returning to the land of their birth where they had since made their home, and where he was engaged in excavation work. He was a high type of Christian character.

We extend sympathy to the bereaved family.
