Ording, Berdine M.

Berdine M. Ording, a Manitowoc resident, entered eternal life on Sunday, November 13, 2016 at Rivers Bend Health and Rehabilitation Center.

Berdine was born on August 19, 1922 in Milwaukee. She was the daughter of the late John and Lizetta Rathsack Nicholus. Berdine was a graduate of Lincoln High School with the class of 1940. In past years Berdine did a lot of volunteer work at Manitowoc Lutheran High School, Bethany Ev. Lutheran Grade School, Shady Lane Nursing Care Center, Holy Family Memorial Medical Center and the Manitowoc Senior Center. She married Earl E. Retzlaff in 1941 at First German Ev. Lutheran Church. He preceded her in death on March 2, 1981. She later married Alvin W. Ording on March 18, 1984 in Manitowoc. He preceded her in death September 7, 2000. Berdine was a member of Bethany Ev. Lutheran Church where she was an active member and past president of Bethany's Ladies Aid, and member of the church choir. Prior to her church membership at Bethany Ev. Lutheran Church Berdine had been a long time member of First German Ev. Lutheran Church where she had taught Sunday School, past president and member of the Ladies Aid and member of the church choir.

She is survived by one daughter: Jeannine and Dennis Forsberg, Manitowoc; five grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, son-in-law: Richard Sickinger, Oshkosh; special nephew: James Terry, Manitowoc; along with other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents: John and Lizetta Nicholus; first husband: Earl Retzlaff; second husband: Alvin Ording; daughter: Earline Sickinger; grandson: Eric Forsberg; granddaughter: Chris Sickinger; and sister: Johnette Stanul.

Funeral services will be held 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, November 16, 2016 at Bethany Ev. Lutheran Church, 3209 Meadow Lane, Manitowoc. Officiating will be Rev. Robert Kujawski and Rev. Stephen Melso with burial to follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Manitowoc. Relatives and friends may call at Bethany Ev. Lutheran Church on Wednesday from 10:30 a.m. until the time of services at 11:30 a.m. Online condolences to the family may be sent to www.harriganparksidefuneralhome.com.
