Dorothy J. (Shaw) Beddow, 96, of Chillicothe passed away on Saturday, April 9, 2016, at Unity Point Methodist Hospital in Peoria. She was born in a Dunlap farm house that remains in the family to this day. Dorothy Jane Shaw entered the world on the longest day of the year, June 21st, 1919. She married Charles M. Beddow and they resided in Chillicothe. They had one son, Dennis C. (Cheryl) Beddow, who survives. Also surviving is her only granddaughter, Kami D. (Steven) Henriques, formerly of Chillicothe; and her great-grandson, Sebastian Henriques (8 mos old). Dorothy has one nephew that survives, Bill (Nancy) Shaw, who lives and farms the original homestead. She was preceded in death by her husband; father and mother, George and Nellie Shaw; and her brother, Ralph (Dorothy) Shaw and …well just about everyone else (friends and family).
Dorothy enjoyed listening to country music, playing card games, sewing and going to the "boat" (Par-A-Dice casino). Dorothy attended all of Kami's sporting events, never missing a game. Dorothy didn't know a stranger, had great wit and humor, had an infectious laugh and made friends wherever she went. She loved the Las Vegas atmosphere and made an annual 2-week vacation there for the better part of 30 years. She also drove herself to Lake Okeechobee, FL to spend her winter, making the final trip at the age of 80.
