THOMAS REINHARDT WEGFORTH
(1951 - 2016)

Thomas Reinhardt Wegforth, age 65, a Manitowoc resident passed away peacefully with his wife at his side, Sunday, November 13, 2016 at his home after a short illness due to cancer.

Tom was born on March 25, 1951, in Manitowoc, son of the late William C. and Shirley (Griebling) Wegforth. He was baptized and confirmed at First Presbyterian Church in Manitowoc. Tom graduated from Manitowoc Lincoln High School with the class of 1969. Tom and the former Laurie Lee Brennan were married and Tom was confirmed into the church on June 15, 1985 by the Rev. William Zimmer at Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Manitowoc. He worked at Burger Boat as a ship fitter until it closed in 1993. Tom then worked at Manitowoc Plumbing Supply until his retirement in 2013.

Tom was a lifelong Packers fan and appropriately passed away while listening to Sunday's game. He loved dogs which were always an important part of his life. For fun he enjoyed fishing, watching football and western movies, especially starring Clint Eastwood, and old western TV shows. Tom also liked to go to rummage and estate sales, always in search of a great find. But most of all, he loved spending time with his wife and dogs at their cabin on Round Lake just across the road from the Brennan family cottage on Kelly Lake. Tom gave up all sweets when he was diagnosed with borderline diabetes 10 years ago. His favorites were chocolate milk, malted milk balls, chocolate filled cupcakes, Mallo Cups, and bridge mix. He was able to enjoy all during his last days.

Tom is survived by his loving wife: Laurie; one brother: William S. Wegforth; one sister and brother-in-law: Susan and Jason Koch, and their children: Jared and Samara Koch. He is also survived by his sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: Eileen and Harvey Mleziva, and their children: Mark and Beth Mleziva family (Madeline and William), Gina and Brian Dresang family (Anna, Natalie and Lauren), Troy and Katie Mleziva family (Mason and Maura), Stacy Mleziva, Lisa and Tom Cook family (Carly), Bonnie Brennan, Sue Rudin, Carol and Will Gauger and their daughter, Heather (Goddaughter) (Alex and Anthony), David Anderson and the late JoAnn Anderson and their children, Dustin and Shelby Anderson family (Eloise, Signe, Thales), Garret Anderson, and HaLeigh Jo and Seth Zipperer, William Brennan, Maureen and Dennis Lehman and their children, Nicholas (Godson), Cady and Alison. Also surviving is his special dog companion: Libby.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Shirley and Bill Wegforth; his brother: Roger Wegforth; his nephew: Preston Koch, his sister-in-law: JoAnn Brennan Anderson; and his father-in-law and mother-in-law: Eugene "Jim" and Isabel Brennan.

Cremation has occurred at All-Care Cremation Center, Manitowoc, and Funeral Services will be held at 6:00 P.M. on Thursday, November 17, 2016 at First Presbyterian Church, Manitowoc. Officiating at the service will be the Rev. Dr. Matthew Sauer.
