Our Grandpop.
He was the second of four sons of Harry Louis Goff, Sr & Mary Jones Goff and a partner in Goff's Quality Foods wtih his brother Stanley for over 40 years. He lost his two younger brothers, Roland & Harry in the line of duty during WWII.
In 1931, Wayne graduated from Chester High School. He recieved his B.S. from Wharton School, University of PA, in 1938. After graduating he worked for Sinclair Refining Company, before joining brother Stanley in the family seafood business.
Wayne had two daughters, Carol & Nancy, whom he raised with his first wife Betty. He had 6 grandchildren: William Roland, Jim, Karen, Susan, Ellen and John. To date, he has 13 great grandchildren.
He was with his 2nd wife Norma for over 40 years. They were always wonderful hosts! As kids visiting from Florida, we were treated to wonderful lobster dinners when we visited on vaction. As an adult, I enjoyed some wonderful adventures with them, from touring scenic areas of PA to joining them on their annual "booze cruise." All these drives included some wonderful family stories from grandpop. Our recent visits had included some great picnics at Brandywine Battlefield and other local parks.
Wayne was at his best with kids. They just always seemed to click. This was evident with his children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, neices & nephews.
He was a member of his local Presbyterian Church, the Springhaven Country Club, Masonic Lodge No. 236 F.&A.M. Chester, Delaware County Shrine Club and Lu Lu Temple.
A Goff's Quality Foods truck led Wayne's funeral procession. It was an appropriate tribute, though it couldn't get through the cemetery entrance.
