Deceased Name: Martin Stephen Arvay Sr.
BARBERTON -- Martin Stephen Arvay Sr., 74, died Nov. 12, 1994 at Akron General Medical Center.
Born in Barberton, he was a life resident. Mr. Arvay was the former owner and operator of the Blue Ribbon Cafe in Akron for 28 years, and was retired from the Barberton Board of Education after 10 years service. He was a member of SS. Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church, the Catholic War Veterans Post 304, Knights of Columbus Council 1617, the Hungarian Club, the Barberton Moose Lodge 759, the German Club, and the Barberton Leidertafel. He was a veteran of World War II in the U. S. Army.
Preceded in death by his wife, Eva Jean, he is survived by sons, Martin Jr. of Norton, Frank of Waukesha, Wis., John of Canal Fulton, James of Barberton; daughter, Mrs. Jeanne (Richard) Shipley of Clinton; 11 grandchildren; brother, Paul Arvay of Barberton; sister, Mrs. Bertha Peeples of Yucca Valley, Calif.
Funeral services Tuesday, 9:30 a.m., at the Hahn Funeral Home, with Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at SS. Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church, Fr. Edward Lajack, celebrant. Interment at Greenlawn Memorial Park. Calling hours TODAY, 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Rosary service at 7:30 THIS EVENING. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.
