Betty was the daughter of John Clifford Kane, Sr & Helen Holcroft Kane, sister of Buddy, Bill & Dick, mother of Carol and Nancy, and grandmother of 6. She was married to Wayne Goff until their divorce in 1961.
Raised in the Methodist church, she join St Paul's Epicopal Church at the age of 15, much to the delite of her Episcopal father. She remained active in church all her life. Her favorite hymn was "All Things Bright & Beautiful." (It was played at her funeral.)
She graduated from Chester High School, attended the University of Pennsylvania and West Chester Teachers' College.
She was a school teacher for many years in the Chester, Lima and Rose Tree School districts in Delaware County, PA, specializing in remedial reading.
She had a love for the arts and was a member of the Swarthmore, PA Players Club. She could discuss all types of art with no preperation.
Betty helpful, caring and loved her family. She kept track of all of our various activities and was proud of them. (Even some of my more "off the wall" stuff) Much credit for the preservation of family photos & news clippings of both past and current family events & accomplishments can be credited to her.
She was a Pennsylvanian almost all of her life. I recall her saying she felt like a traitor when she had to surrender her PA license plates for Florida ones.
She died in Winter Park Hospital in Winter Park, FL. Services were at All Saints Episcopal Church in Winter Park, FL. She donated her body to the University of Florida Medical School and was later cremated, her ashes now residing with family.
