LINDELL LOVELACE, 62

Services for Lindell Eugene Lovelace, 62, of Bowling Green were held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Kirks Funeral Chapel with Rev. Steve Hammond officiating. Soloist was Mrs. Charlene McCune who sang "The Old Rugged Cross" and "How Great Thou Art" accompanied by Mrs. Helen Reading.

Pallbearers were Paul Tothermich, Lloyd Livingston, Kenny Lang, Larry Hustedde, Al Wortman and Jerry Davis.

Mr. Lovelace, the son of Evert and Wilma Trower Lovelace, was born Jan. 17, 1924 near Vandalia. He died July 29, 1986 in Smith-Barr Manor, Louisiana after an extended illness.

He attended schools in Audrain County and later enlisted in the U.S. Navy on Aug. 11, 1942. He served in the South Pacific area during World War II and was honorably discharged Dec. 16, 1945. On March 29, 1947, he was married to Dorothy Christine Hanson at the Presbyterian Church in Vandalia. In the early years of their marriage, they lived in Salt Lake City where he began his career in floor covering. Later they returned to the St. Louis area, and in 1966 opened the House of Quality floor covering store in O'Fallon and maintained that business for 17 years. In 1983 they sold the business and moved to Las Vegas where he semi-retired. Due to ill health, they returned to Missouri in November 1985.

Mr. Lovelace is survived by his wife; one son, Stanley Shane of St. Charles; two grandchildren; his parents, Evert and Wilma Lovelace of Vandalia; two brothers, Paul Thomas Lovelace of St. Louis and Sherwood Lovelace of Laddonia; two sisters, Mrs. Paul (Wanda Francaleen) Hanson of Curryville and Mrs. Franklyn (Shirley) Leadley of Vandalia; nieces and nephews.

Mr. Lovelace joined the Estes Presbyterian Church July 17, 1960, and later transferred his membership to William's Memorial Methodist Church in O'Fallon.
