Oscar Bridges served in the Civil War as a private in Co. I, 55 Ohio Infantry and as such was provided a military headstone. He enlisted on 17 Feb 1865 in Covington Kentucky at age 18. There is some evidence, a headstone marker request for his government marker, that he also enlisted in Co. A, 40 Kentucky Inf. Both of these two enlistment cards show the exact same date and place. All of his brothers also served in the Union Army.
