Dorma Rowene Allen, 89, Meriden, died Wednesday, November 16, 2016 at Village Villa care facility in Nortonville. She was born February 23, 1927 in Ozawkie, the Daughter of Wilber Cecil “Squibb” and Ethel M. Laird Brown. She attended school in rural Jefferson County. Dorma was a homemaker and had worked many years part time for the Kansas Department of Revenue during tax season. She was a member of Meriden United Methodist Church, Meriden V.F.W. Aux Unit #10815 and the Ozawkie American Legion Aux Unit# 225. Dorma enjoyed bowling and was a member of bowling leagues in Oskaloosa and Topeka for many years. She was married to John Byron Allen on December 2, 1945 in Oskaloosa, he preceded her in death June 10, 1997. She is survived by one sister, Harriett Irene Tullis, McLouth and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Wayne Brown and Merle “Squeak” Brown, four sisters, infant, Dona Jean Brown, Hazel Maline, Doris Martin and Maxine Beerbower. A Memorial Service will be 1:30 PM, Saturday, November 26, 2016 at Meriden United Methodist Church. Inurnment at Ozawkie Cemetery at a later date.
