Kim Dale Roehrs, age 54, of Iantha, Missouri, passed away Thursday afternoon, November 17, 2016, surrounded by family at Freeman West Hospital.
Kim was born August 6, 1962, at Fort Hood, Texas, first of the three sons of Warren and Judith (Denny) Roehrs. He graduated from Liberal High School in 1980 and began a 28-year career at O’Sullivan Industries in Lamar. When the plant closed in 2007, Kim furthered his education at Franklin Tech in Joplin, and in 2009, was hired as Director of Engineering at Platinum Aerostructures in Nevada.
An avid outdoorsman, Kim enjoyed hunting, fishing, and competitive shooting. He grew up in a family that valued a strong work ethic peppered with a great sense of humor. With his natural talent for construction and a substantial amount of “red neck pride” Kim had recently finished a new workshop, complete with a high-tech outhouse. Family time with his girls and grandkids was a high priority for Kim, and he was pleased that they shared his keen interest in history and love of reading.
Many of Kim’s closest friendships grew from his involvement as a Mason. He had served as past master of Liberal Hermon Masonic Lodge 187; past high priest of Lamar Royal Arch; member of Carthage Council; Nevada Commandry; Joplin Scottish Rite; and Springfield Abou Ben Adhem.
On July 2, 1983, Kim married Connie Madison, and she survives, of the home. Also surviving are twin daughters, Amber (Chris) Soma, Bella Vista, Arkansas and Ashley (Troy) Sandbothe, Jefferson City, Missouri; grandchildren, Laney and Oakley Sandbothe; his mother, Judy Roehrs, Iantha; his father-in-law, Russell Madison, Dunnegan, Missouri; two brothers, Scott (Kristy) Roehrs and Ron (Stephanie) Roehrs, all of Lamar; a sister-in-law, Michelle Roehrs, Lamar; several nephews and nieces; and a large extended family. Kim was preceded in death by his father, Warren Roehrs, and his mother-in-law, Dorothy Madison.
Masonic Rites will be conducted at 6:00 p.m. Sunday, November 20th at Daniel Funeral Home where visitation will follow from 6:30 until 8:00 p.m.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, November 21st at Daniel Funeral Home. Immediately after the service, there will be a balloon release at Iantha Cemetery.
