Evadeane Kerr, age 98 formerly of La Plata, Missouri, passed away Monday, April 7, 2014 at the Odd fellow Rebekah Home in Mattoon, Illinois.
---Born January 26, 1916 in Nind, Missouri, she was the daughter of Dr. Benton A. and Hallie B. (Smart) Reynolds. On November 9, 1937 in Kirksville, Missouri, she married Cecil Kerr who preceded her in death on June 24, 1985.
---Also preceding her in death were her parents; three brothers, Harrison “Dick”, James Robert “Bob”, and Benton Reynolds; and two sisters, Margaret Reynolds and Hallie Ann Marriott. Surviving is one daughter and son-in-law, Marilyn and Edward Royse of Mattoon, Illinois; one brother, William “Bill” Reynolds and wife Nita Faye, and one sister-in-law, Mary Margaret Reynolds all of California, Missouri; three grandsons, Charles Royce and wife Jody of Spring, Texas, Rick Royse and wife Amy of Mattoon, Illinois, and Randy Royse of Maui, Hawaii; five great grandchildren, Allison Royse, Elizabeth Royse, Curtis Royse and wife Michelle, Kacie Royse, and Keith Royse; and several nieces and nephews. Evadeane was bookkeeper and clerk for MFA while living in S. Gifford, Missouri.
---In 1956 she and Cecil moved to La Plata and she started working at the Citizen National Bank in Kirksville, Missouri. Her next job with the La Plata State Bank began in 1961, retiring from there in 1987. Evadeane was very active in the South Gifford Christian Church teaching Sunday school and a CYF leader on Sunday evenings. She was a member of the Senior Atalpal, Eastern Star #59, board member of the F.M.H.A and treasurer of the La Plata Christian Church. Evadeane moved to Mattoon, Illinois in 1993 to be close to her family. Her greatest joy was her family and the many friends she had made through the years.
---Visitation will be Monday, April 14, 2014 from 10:00 to 11:00 am, with funeral services beginning at 11:00 am at Travis Funeral Chapel in La Plata, Missouri. Memorials in memory of Evadeane may be made to the La Plata Christian Church and may be mailed to or left at Travis Funeral Chapel, 125 S. Church St., La Plata, Missouri 63549.
