Mae Kathryn Vance, 85, of Grand Island died on Saturday, November 19, 2016.
Service will be 5:30 p.m. Wednesday at All Faiths Funeral Home. There will be a visitation prior the service from 4:30 until 5:30. Private family burial will be at a later date in Loup Fork Cemetery of Boelus.
Mae was born May 10, 1931 in Boelus, the daughter of Vigo and Astrid (Keldsen) Kyhn. She grew up on a farm near Boelus and graduated from Boelus High School, Class of 1949.
She married Wilbur Vance in 1957. Following their marriage the couple lived in Lexington, before moving to Blair, NE. Wilbur passed in 1979 and Mae moved to Cairo, St. Paul and then Grand Island. She had employment with various nursing homes and Bel Air Motel in St. Paul.
Her faith was important to her and Mae was a very involved member of Jehovah Witness Kingdom Hall. Mae loved her family and especially enjoyed her time with her beloved grandchildren.
Survivors include her children, Alan Vance, Mark Vance, both of Grand Island, Rhonda Clements (Randy) of Omaha, Shawn Vance (Kim) of Phillips, Darin Vance of Grand Island and Rochelle Smith (Jeff) of Alma; nine grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; an infant son, Paul Kent Vance; three brothers, Arnold, Harold and Lloyd; and a sister, Verna McKoski.
