Lois L. Perkins, 102, of McPherson, Kansas, passed away at 10:38 a.m., Friday, November 18th, while in the company of family members, at her daughters home, McPherson, Kansas.

Lois was born in McPherson, Kansas on July 30, 1914, a daughter of Barbara Lucretia (Burns) and Hardy Wallace Fortner.

Lois attended Fairview Country School near Conway, Kansas, school in Bartow, Florida and graduated from Fort Smith, Arkansas High School, Fort Smith Arkansas.

She was a member of Free Methodist Church McPherson, KS.

Lois was a Homemaker

Lois enjoyed gardening, reading, sewing, did a lot of needle work, doing volunteer work at Central College and spending time with her family.

Lois L. Fortner was united in marriage to Vernon Francis Perkins, Sr. on November 10, 1933 at Van Buren, Arkansas. He died on February 13, 1973.

She is survived by her children, Earline Magathan and her husband Jim, of Marion, Kansas, Nadine Bonham, of McPherson, Kansas, Barbara Huff, of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Mary Kluss, of Nickerson, Kansas, and Erma Perkins, of McPherson, Kansas; her 22 grandchildren; her 54 great-grandchildren; her 12 great-great-grandchildren; other relatives and a host of friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Vernon, Sr.; sons, Gerald, Stanley, Vernon Jr., and Chester Perkins; infant sister, Betty Jean Perkins; brothers, Robert and Gordon Fortner, and half brother, Kenneth Whitney.

Friends are invited to call on Monday, November 21, 2016 from 4 to 7 p.m. with the family present from 5 to 7 p.m. at Glidden – Ediger Chapel, McPherson.

The funeral service will be held at the Free Methodist Church, McPherson, Kansas, at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 22nd, 2016 with Pastor Tom Griffith officiating.

The final resting place will be at the McPherson Cemetery, McPherson, KS.

Memorial contributions may be given to Free Methodist Church or Hospice of Reno County-McPherson and they can be sent in care of the Glidden – Ediger Funeral Home; 222 West Euclid Street; McPherson, Kansas 67460
