One of 61 persons in a single burial area in Highland Park Cemetery, marked with a memorial to the St. Clair-Norwood Area Fire Disaster. The plaque on the reverse of the names reads:

"Social progress attuned to industrial achievements for the benefit of the living shall be a memorial to these whose lives were unwittingly sacrificed Oct. 20, 1944."

The tragedy was more commonly known as the East Ohio Gas Explosion, and occurred when storage tanks of liquified natural gas leaked and then ignited, causing an explosion fueled by more than 100 million gallons of natural gas. One square mile of the Slovenian neighborhood on Cleveland's East Side (northeast of E. 55th and St. Clair) was involved, and parts became an instant inferno and the gas leaked into sewers and basements. Because it occurred mid-afternoon, most children were in school, but nearly 200 were taken to hospitals, nearly 700 were left homeless, and the final death toll reached 130. Twenty-one individuals were never identified, and were buried with the 61 in the memorial plot in Highland Park.
