Our Nana Kane. Helen was the daughter of William Henry Holcroft & Sarah Ford Holcroft; the mother of Betty, Buddy, Bill & Dick.
Since she was my great grandmother, I always knew her as the white-haired, heavyset woman in the pink & white dress, always working on knitting or some other craft. As a child, our Christmas Tree used to be covered with these felt & sequined ornaments she had made: pink & white horse heads that were used as candy cane top covers, wisemen, choir boys, & santas. She made Christmas stockings for her children, grandchildren & great grandchildren. She also made lots of crafts for church sales.
We loved having Nana Kane around. Visits with her were always looked forward to. She always seemed to have the loveliest disposition, though I understand she had her tough side.
