David P. Vander Wege age 79, of Holland, died Sunday, November 20, 2016.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Eleanor (Mouw) in 2006 and a son, Jeffrey in 2012.
Dave was a member of Central Ave Christian Reformed Church where he served as an elder, did significant research on the stained glass windows, and enjoyed singing in the choir. He was also a charter member of the Evergreen Chorale.
He was employed in purchasing at Big Dutchman for 21 years and coordinated the Holland Community Garden for 8 years. Dave enjoyed rafting through the Grand Canyon and spending time backpacking the Continental Divide. He was an avid gardener, becoming a Master Gardener through Michigan State University. His passion was Bonsi plants.
He is survived by his son, Daniel Vander Wege of Grand Haven; daughter-in-law, Brenda Vander Wege of Holland; 4 grandchildren, Hunter Vander Wege, Chase Vander Wege, Drew Vander Wege, Brianna Vander Wege.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 23, 2016 at Central Avenue Christian Reformed Church, 259 Central Ave. Holland with Rev. Chad Steenwyk officiating. Burial will be in Pilgrim Home Cemetery. A time of visitation and fellowship will take place following the service. Memorial contributions may be given to the Evergreen Chorale and the Central Ave. CRC Memorial Fund. The family is being served by Langeland-Sterenberg Funeral Home.
