Harry J. Haines, 3709 N. Virginia Ave., died Wednesday in Ball Memorial Hospital. He was born in Muncie, attended local schools and spent his entire life in this area.
Mr. Haines worked for 40 years for Chevrolet-Muncie (now Hydramatic Division of General Motors) before retiring in 1965. He was a charter member of Riverside Avenue Baptist Church and a member of Delaware Masonic Lodge 46 and Avondale Sympathy Club. He was a past associate guardian of Job's Daughters, Bethel 25.
Surviving are his wife of 68 years, Marie; three daughters, Laurajene (Mrs. O.C.) Plymale and Pam (Mrs. John) Conrad, both of Muncie, and Nancy (Mrs. David) Beebe of Fishers; a sister, Dorothy Lang, North Miami Beach, Fla.; two brothers, James Haines, New York City, and Charles Haines, North Miami Beach; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Saturday in Meeks Mortuary. Burial will be in Gardens of Memory, north of Muncie. Calling at the mortuary is 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. today or before services Saturday. Delaware Lodge 46 will conduct memorial services at 7 p.m. today at the mortuary.
