Opal Lucille Allen, 78, Lebanon, died Friday, June 5, 2009, at Parkwood Health Care Center, Lebanon.

She was born in Boone County, Indiana, on Feb. 19, 1931. She was the daughter of Cecil S. and Jessie Grace (Likens) Abbott; they preceded her in death.

She was reared and educated in Boone County.

She married Charlie Allen Aug. 23, 1946, in Frankfort. Mr. Allen died April 17, 2009.

Mrs. Allen had previously worked as a cook at several area restaurants including; Ulen County Club, Sir Vir’s Restaurant and Cattleman’s Restaurant all of Lebanon. She was well known for the wonderful pies that she baked.
She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.

Survivors include daughter Lucinda “Cindy” (husband, David D.) Culley, Lebanon; grandchildren: Robin Culley and David C. (wife, DeeAnn) Culley, both of Lebanon; great-grandchildren: Trey Culley, Evan Culley, Reis Culley, Jaxx Culley and Kara Culley; brothers Dick (wife Carolyn) Abbott of Frankfort, Bill (wife Marilyn) Abbott of Tennessee, Larry (wife Shirley) Abbott of Zionsville, Terry Abbott (wife Nesta) Lebanon, Dan (wife Peggy) Abbott of Frankfort; sister Barbara Piscador of Lebanon; several nieces and nephews.

A brother–in-law, Eddie Piscador, and a niece, Evelene Basil, also preceded her in death.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. on Monday, at Myers Mortuary, 1502 N. Lebanon St., Lebanon. Services are to be held on at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 9, 2009, at Myers; the Rev. Charles Brinson officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Lebanon.
