Grace was married to Taylor Overbee in her youth and had two children, Richard Arnold Overbee and Elizabeth (Betty) Overbee Combs . After ending her strained marriage with Taylor she remarried to Audi Lee Lucas and was very happy. She died peaceably in her home at age of 89 years with many of her family and loved ones about her.
Grace is best remembered as a member of the 'Pack Horse Librarians'. This was a WPA project that helped to get reading material into the crooks and hollows of the Cumberland Mountains of Kentucky during the Great Depression. Many of the homes she delivered books and magazines to could only be reached by horse. Her story and the story of this project has been recounted in several articles and books.
