Death of Mrs. Elsie E. Kinney
Dayton Review
Elsie E. Meanor was born in Alleghany County, Pennsylvania, Jan. 28, 1886, moved to Iowa in 1866, and taught several terms of school in this county. She was married to Harry A. Kinney July 3, 1889, by whom she has born six children, four girls and two boys, the eldest being only about seven years old. She was converted at Callender in 1894 and united with the M. E. church. Her christian character has been marked and her influence for the cause of Christ zealous and strong. She was a model wife and her home was all that a christian life and character could make it.
For several weeks her health has failed, and last Sunday at her home in Fort Dodge she reached the end, dying at 2:30 o'clock p.m.
Her remains were brought to Dayton Monday night and her body laid to rest in the Dayton Cemetery on Tuesday afternoon.
Her pastor, Rev. Robert Smylie, of Fort Dodge, assisted by Rev. Hawn, preached her funeral at Grace M. E. church to a very large concourse of people. He paid a very high tribute to her christian character and faith in her Redeemer.
From a verse in Psalms - "Why art thou cast down, O my soul, and why art thou disquieted within me? Hope in God for I shall yet praise Him who is the health of thy countenance and thy God," - he delivered a very impressive and touching discourse on God's providence.
Quite a number of the soldiers took pains to show their comrade, Capt. J. L. Kinney, and his family, respect by being present in a body. Harry has the sincere sympathy of all in his great affliction.
